| Kathie adds a special creative touch to each instrument with her engraving and new color dye process. The photos below are of several of our new engraving patterns. Please note that the colors are dyes and stains. The color is in the wood, not the finish, and are comprised of special penetrating formulas. There is no paint involved, so you never have to worry about your design chipping or peeling. | |||||||||

As you will notice in the following pages, we have many new patterns as well as individual elements that can be joined together to form a truly unique "one of a kind" pattern for your dulcimer. Since there are so many options and patterns available, it is impossible for us to post a price for a set pattern. We are truly a "custom" shop and want to build you an instrument that is distinctively yours, one that stands out from all the others. |

| Each dulcimer comes with your choice of engraving on the top rail. If you choose to have engraving done on the pin blocks, Kathie uses mirror image patterns for artistic balance and uniformity. She can also engrave around the border of the sound board, around both rosettes and on the bottom rail with your choice of patterns. | |||||||||
| Our designs are flexible and can be altered to include or exclude any element of the pattern, ie: engrave only the soundboard or only the top rail, or may be changed to include elements from other patterns as well. Kathie will quote engraving and coloring prices according to which pattern elements you choose.. | |||||||||

Vines and Blossoms |

| A delicate pattern of tiny blue bell blossoms on a leafy vine trail. This pattern works well as a Sound Board border, up both sides of pin block, on top and/or bottom rail and can be arranged in a circle to surround the sound hole rosettes in an elegant circle | |||||||||

Hearts and Diamonds |

This pattern is a network of interwoven hearts and diamonds. This pattern can be engraved up each pin block, arranged in a diamond shape surrounding the rosettes and/or form a beautiful border around the perimeter of the Sound Board |

Rose Pattern #1 |
Rose Pattern #2 | There are several rose patterns that Kathie uses. Any of these can be utilized to form a beautiful pattern on the top and/or bottom rail, on the pin blocks or arranged in a circle to surround the rosettes. | |||||||

| Hummingbirds are rapidly becoming our most popular pattern. There are hummingbirds suspended in flight, hovering before flowers surrounding the inlaid sound hole rosettes. The pattern is mirrored for each side of the sound board, so the birds face one another. This same mirror image is engraved on each side of the J&K logo on the top rail. Flowers adorn the Pin Block and the flowers and hummingbird pattern is repeated along the Bottom Rail. This is by far the one of our most exquisite and beautiful patterns. There are any number of possibilities with the hummingbirds. Just use your imagination, combine elements, put them wherever you would like on the dulcimer. |

| Dragons | |||||||||
| We received a couple of requests for a Dragon engraving pattern, so Kathie came up with this one. It has become a very popular pattern and can be utilized in many ways to dress up your dulcimer. Most of our patterns look good with our without the added color. However, the Dragon requires color for the detail to stand out. | |||||||||

One of our owners wanted bear tracks wandering across her sound board with a border of bears around the perimeter. Another owner had a drawing of frogs that was special to her, so we adapted it for her top rail. We look forward to helping you design the instrument of your dreams, personalized just for you. | ||||||

| If you plan to give the dulcimer as a gift, we will be glad to engrave a short message on the back in a select font, or can even engrave it in your handwriting if you prefer. | ||||||
