| What kind of strings
should I use? |
| At J&K, we use strings made for us by
GHS String Corp. Our wound loop-end strings are 80/20 Phosphor
Bronze. Our unwound (plain) loop-end strings are made from standard
music wire, much the same as found on a Banjo or Mandolin. If you are

| If at all possible, we recommend you
follow your dulcimer builder's guidelines for string gauges. The
strings exert considerable tension across the face of the dulcimer.
Using a heavier gauge wire than what the dulcimer was designed for may
cause irreparable structural damage to the instrument and may void
your manufacturer's warranty. Using lighter gauge strings may
alter the tonal quality of your instrument. |
